Our goal throughout the applications process is to meet every parent and child in the fullest manner possible. We do this through a student visit in the classroom and a teacher-parent interview. The number of days scheduled for the student shadow visit depends on the specific grade. If necessary, our Educational Support Director may also meet with a child to better assess his or her needs.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2018–19 school year.
GUIDELINES FOR APPLYING
Applying for the Primary (Grades 1-3), Elementary (Grades 4-6), and Middle School (Grades 7-8) Education program:
Admission to the Primary Education program involves classes that are mixed ages from 6 years through 3rd grade. Your child will be considered for acceptance when they turn 6 years old.
Elementary Grades are also mixed ages. Students move into the Junior High Middle School program when they have demonstrated their readiness for this important transition.
At Santa Lucia, we look at the whole child and individual development when considering a student for acceptance in first grade, which includes physical, social and cognitive development and readiness to enter first grade. Children with late spring and early summer birthdays may be considered for admission to first grade through a readiness assessment to determine whether they are developmentally prepared to take on the challenges of first grade or whether they would be better served by an additional year in kindergarten.
The length of time between sending in an application and having a decision from Santa Lucia varies. It depends on the grade to which you are applying, the time of year, and whether or not there is a space in the class. Upon acceptance, you will then complete an enrollment contract, pay the deposit to hold your child’s space in the class and fill out all enrollment documents. New students must also submit a waiver or record of immunizations and a report of a physical examination before school begins.
HOW TO ENROLL
Due to our small class size our enrollment is competitive. We have prepared an application for enrollment for you to fill out and submit back to us. In addition to submitting an application, you will be contacted for a personal interview to ensure our school will best serve your child.
During the summer months, we do not have visiting day, as school is not in session for you to observe. You can still complete an application and be contacted for an interview during the summer months. During the school year, we enjoy hosting prospective new families on our special Visiting Day. Join us, meet the staff, see the kids in action, and walk our beautiful grounds. Contact us to inquire about visiting days. We look forward to meeting you!
